Fallout 76's latest patch is now live. I *was* planning to play Fallout 76 while I download BFV at ~150kb/s. Lance McDonald noted that the PS4 patch is broken down into 11 chunks of 4GB. This patch requires: Fallout 4-CODEX (previous update is not required). Fallout 4 Update v1.3 PROPER-CODEX Size: 622 MB _____ DIRECT LINK. NVIDIA GTX 780 3GB/AMD Radeon R9 290X 4GB or equivalent; Hard Drive: 30 GB available space Fallout 4 Update v1.3 PROPER-CODEX. 4GB memory patcher. From Nexus Mods Wiki. Jump to: navigation, search. And is especially useful to improve performance of 32-bit games like Oblivion or Fallout 3. If you don't use OBSE, you can try the 3GB Enabler Patch for Oblivion by Chimera/hoihoi8.

I was just wondering if this game has had some of its compatibility issues ironed out. I know GOG tends to tweaks such games to make them more compatible with modern systems, and I was wondering if this was the case, here. I own the game on Steam, and it crashes constantly, and sometimes doesn't start at all, seemingly of its own will. I know there's guides and whatnot, and believe me, I've spent hours trying to tweak things to work, and the best I've ever gotten with the Steam version was a game that would crash so often I couldn't progress further than Level 1.
Not intending to bash Steam or anything here, I'm just wondering if the GOG version is more stable. If it is, I'd highly consider buying it, because as of right now, I can't get back into it.

Well, I have Windows 7 and GOG Fallout 3, so regret to inform you that the game does not responding immediately after launch. It seems to me the well-known problem wasn't fixed at all.

I originally bought Fallout 3 when it first came out. I bought this GOG version a few hours after it became available and its working for me fine on Windows 7 Ultimate. No crashes, no problems starting. The game is playing the same way for me it did when it first came out. I'm running vanilla version with no tweaks or mods.

A bit of a problem with the Fallout 3 launcher, but that cleared up after I hit the verify/repair button, and now it runs beautifully on Windows 7 64 bit.
BTW the majority of the crashing and instability problems were not with Windows 7, but with multi core computers with more then two cores. Fallout 3 did not like them. But that problem is fixed with a simple edit of the FO3 init file.
Win 7 got blamed because most computers that shipped with Win 7 were multicore computers.

I found the same suggestion to edit fallout3.ini in Fallout Wikia, so now the game runs smoothly.

No problems for me on Win7 and it is Mod friendly also unlike the previous versions this is settup for 64x OS and it defaults for 4gb unlike the previous pathetic 1.8gb memory.. All the Bethesda title on here have been patched and upgraded I LOVE GOG!

Pretty sure FO3 is LAA enabled. I have seen posts that state this and to be sure I emailed GOG once and they answered back that yes it is. Use the support page.

Ya you're right, I decided to check the GOG notes rather than what everyone was saying and turns out it is LAA enabled. Just doesn't have the ini enhancements. But those can be added pretty easy.
Works on Win7 fine, using win7 pro. Set it up for my son earlier on his machine. Ran fine.

carinth01: redacted UPDATED - I COULD NOT GET FO3 STILL TO RUN PROPERLY AND STABLE SO I DID THE MOD THAT MERGES FO3 AND NV TOGETHER BASICALLY PUTTING FO3 INSIDE OF NV SO YOU CAN PLAY BOTH TRAVEL INGAME BETWEEN WASTELANDS AND THUS GIVING F03 IRON SITES AND ALL OTHER NV FEATURES:

I still had issues on Win7 due to the multi core problem (fo3 was not settup for multicore) so i did this:

Now I am SO HAPPY!

You can add the ini fixes and add fose, then add 4gb LAA to fose with the patch. Fixes most issues and you can still run ttw with it if you wanted.

ALL of these on GOG already have that.. And I did do fose of course and all the main stability patches and such.. Fose is kinda standard for those mods and you can't even do TTW without...
But anyway works great with TTW so i am happy

Ya those are for both steam and gog, it's already noted in the description not to use the 4gb patch on the game .exe in gog version, just the script extender. It's the ini updates that are just used with the gog one. The notes have instructions for both versions. Steam has a bit more todo then gog version as it isn't laa. But just check the gog notes for the difference in the steps.
We had already verified all the gog ones were LAA.

Fallout 3 and Windows XP?
On the purchase page on GOG for Fallout 3, I am assuming it's an error, the requirements it does not list WinXP. That must be a mistake, because Fallout 3 *IS* an XP/Vista game.
Has anybody used the GOG version of FO3 on XP??
Thank you.

Technically yes you can allow the game to use more CPU and memory just like the 4GB patch The problem is no one has made a patch or mod to counter this.... Since there is a 4GB patch that works and is very effective then we know that it is possible to allow these changes to the game
