Sure, the first thing that you should try is creating a patch that covers his 'real' stuff and see how it works. I usually starts in this way because the emulators use to have a different 'sound color' depending on the amps that you choose, so it's a good first step to experiment to try the amp used by the artist but emulated.

I've been playing around trying to recreate that sick tone from TOE. This is as close as I can get without better impulses or better EQ. The main trick to the tone is lots of post EQ and limiting.
I'd recommend running your pod to Stack Poweramp mode and running it through NadIR. (ask me if you don't know how)
Keep in mind, this sounded good with my stock pickup on an RG8 so it will sound vastly different on your guitar. You may need to kick down the gain a tad if you have actives.
But for the most part the Mid Focus EQ before the amp boosts the mids and takes out the mud. The Parametric after gives it that tangy sound that makes the tone so weird. Then the final Mid Focus just boosts the mids again and takes away all the screeching high end that sounds too hair metal.
Like I said just adjust it too your liking. It's not going to sound exactly like it unless you have better impulses and good post EQ. But I was able to get that tangy sound that makes it unique.
